Sporthotellet Särna

For a town with just two restaurants, having a kitchen here is a real help. There are lots of spices, and the people running the hotel are happy to lend them if you ask. The supermarket is next door and the petrol station is right across the road. The hotel has around five or six rooms, if I’m remembering right, with shared bathrooms: a large one upstairs and a tiny one downstairs past the kitchen. Rooms are clean, with good beds and wardrobes, and sheets are laid out with folded towels waiting when you arrive. There’s a living room with sofas, a TV, guitar and piano, plus a dining room with tables, chairs, a fridge, and a little coffee and tea corner with biscuits. Upstairs there’s a cute balcony with a lantern. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful with advice on where to go and what to do, and they make it easy to accommodate your needs. We brought our Finnish lapphund, and they were fine with him wandering freely as long as everyone was comfortable with it. It’s an old hotel, but renovations are underway.
