Prästgården Hotell & Bryggeri

We’d definitely stay here again. It’s a lovely little hotel in an old church building, with modern, comfortable rooms. Ours had a great bed, a spot to work on a laptop and a large bathroom with plenty of hot water in the shower. There was some traffic noise in the morning from the main road into and out of the city. Service was excellent, and the staff were helpful with everything from keeping our bikes safely in the basement to recycling our AA batteries. The breakfast buffet had a good selection, including a few different things. We also ate in the restaurant one night and tried the seared char, which was a little overcooked.

I came from California to surprise a close friend and former girlfriend near Söderhamn. I hadn’t been to Sweden before and wasn’t sure where to stay, but choosing Prastgarden Hotell worked out well. The hotel and the area around it are quietly beautiful. I wasn’t feeling my best at the time, having just resigned from my job, but my three days there turned into a wonderful stay. Thomas, the hotel owner, is friendly, first-rate, and does his best to make everyone feel welcome. I’d recommend Prästgården hotell. If you book after reading this, bring a smile and a positive attitude, don’t be too fussy, and tell Thomas that "Johnnie Walker" from California sent you🙂

We were impressed by the service from the owner, Thomas, who did everything he could to give us a good experience. Prästgården has recently grown from a former restaurant into a hotel, with single rooms as well as deluxe rooms and suites. The rooms are luxurious and newly furnished, with views over the city. The meals were top class and made with freshly picked ingredients. The hotel is within walking distance of the city center, local nature and the main tourist spots. I’d book again, 5/5.

The staff were so kind and helpful. We planned to camp for one extra night, and they let us leave our luggage there in the meantime. They even suggested a beautiful place by the sea to pitch our tent. Thanks so much for being generous and flexible!
