Hôtel Reisen in The Unbound Collection by Hyatt

The room service was the weak spot in an otherwise really pleasant stay. We waited a long time for the wrong soft drinks, and the burgers arrived with the buns literally soaked in sauce. That’s not what I expect when I order a burger with bread and butter. Swedish food may not be known for finesse, but this meal was an outlier. The hotel itself has a nice atmosphere and a great location.

The food was a real highlight, from breakfast to dinner and drinks at the bar. This recently renovated Hyatt feels sophisticated but still has plenty of charm, and I loved the attention to design and detail that Swedes bring to their spaces. The cozy, modern rooms are a little small, though they were fine for us. It’s on Gamla Stan, a small island in the heart of downtown Stockholm, almost beside the Royal Palace. Definitely worth staying at.

Miguel at the front desk made our visit feel personal, with genuine warmth, attentive help, and great restaurant recommendations. The whole team made us feel like VIPs, and that level of service really stood out. Hôtel Reisen itself is beautiful, blending its 17th-century history with modern Scandinavian luxury. We loved the cozy, spotless room and the breakfast buffet, especially the fresh pastries and Swedish specialties. Right on the water in Gamla Stan, it’s just steps from the Royal Palace and the Old Town’s cobbled streets. We had an incredible stay and can’t wait to return.

We stayed at Hotel Reisen for four nights across two visits and had an excellent experience. Its Eastern Gamla Stan waterfront location made it easy to walk to restaurants and shops in the old town, the Central Rail Station, and the business district. Edita and Muim were both friendly, helpful faces at reception. Our rooms were comfortable and well equipped, with toiletries, a refrigerator, slippers, and even binoculars for looking across the water. The spacious bathroom had a great shower, and the whole hotel felt modernized. Umbrellas were available, and they kept some of our luggage while we traveled elsewhere in Sweden. We didn’t try the restaurant, fitness center, pool, or some of the other amenities, but would happily recommend staying here in Stockholm.
