Nordic Light Hotel

The central location is the strongest point, but at this price I’d choose another hotel nearby. I stayed four nights in a standard room, and neither the service nor the atmosphere felt like what a five star place should offer. The room looked pleasant at first, though it was worn, the sheets had stains, and the mattress was far too firm. On Christmas Eve, housekeeping came in without warning to offer ginger breads. It was a kind idea, but the poor manners spoiled it, so I asked them not to return during my stay. When I came back early on Christmas Day, the room had been cleaned and a plastic bag of my penicillin was missing from the desk. The night manager was very accommodating and tried hard to find it, but it never turned up.

The corner room and bathroom were lovely, and breakfast was good. The heating wasn’t enough, but the staff dealt with it efficiently by bringing a heater. Just be aware that using too many electrical appliances at once may trip the fuse. Special thanks to Tuma at reception, who was very kind and helpful. It may not be a five star hotel per se, but it gets five stars from me for its very nice location.

The staff are the best part here, so caring and accommodating. Breakfast was wonderful, with lots of options, and the hotel is in a great spot for the Arlanda Express from the airport. My room was small, as seems typical for Stockholm hotels, but well appointed, and I really liked the shower. It was cold in the room, so reception sent up a portable heater. When I tried to use the kettle at the same time, the power went out, and that happened twice. Even with those room issues, I’d stay again.

Everything else was perfect, including the great breakfast and being right by Arlanda Express. The room is tiny, though. I could barely open my hand luggage, so I wouldn’t recommend it with a large suitcase unless you book a larger room.
