First Camp City Strömstad

It’s near the harbor, so it’s handy for visiting the Koster islands, and Strömstad city center is close too. The campsite is clean and well equipped. It costs a bit more than other places, but the quality and service make the difference.

Check-in is only available in person for a two-hour window. I spent more than an hour on hold to get the details for checking in by phone, but I use international data and never got the SMS. Why not put the information in the email?

Way too expensive for what you get. At half the price, it might have been okay.

The views are hard to beat from this hill above the city and the nearby bay. It almost feels like Norway. That’s why it gets four stars, despite being expensive. The tent pitches are small and awkwardly laid out. Mine was right in front of three cabins, and in peak season I wouldn’t count on finding a spot. The service buildings feel cramped too, with showers and toilets combined, except for the more spacious one by reception.
