Comfort Hotel Sundsvall

This is an update after four years. The central location is excellent, and it's still a very good hotel, but breakfast was chaotic every morning. Longer hours or better-organized time slots could help with the crowds. The reason we wouldn't return is the night noise. Cars raced right outside, with loud engines and screeching tires, circling the block again and again. It was hard to sleep. Nobody seemed to step in, not even the police, despite the same cars doing it night after night. Surely other guests and residents were disturbed too. Four years ago, I found the location perfect, close to the center, with very good parking nearby. The room was clean and modern, with a nice bathroom, and the staff were friendly. Breakfast was a very good buffet.

The room cards kept demagnetizing, so I couldn't get back into my room. A young man on staff was nice and let me in when my card stopped working, but the rest of the service wasn't much to speak of. The shower drain didn't work and I flooded the bathroom. The rooms also weren't soundproof, and I could hear my neighbors having sex. I barely slept before an important meeting, and felt too embarrassed to look at them over breakfast. Breakfast itself wasn't anything special. This hotel isn't worth it.

This is a better-quality, ordinary Swedish hotel, with a little candy and other things to buy. ICA esplanad is only a few minutes' walk away, and there are several restaurants nearby. I found dust behind the curtain. The hotel seemed to care no more than the usual, saying they'd send someone, but I'd already checked out the next day.

Thanks to the Principal Helen, who looked after the team exceptionally well from start to finish. Felicia, the evening receptionist, was helpful and friendly too, and thanks for the coffee at 4am. The morning receptionist gave us information we didn't know, and was unfriendly when we asked for the laundry or kitchen key. Our double room was a little limited on space, but clean and everything was in place. It worked perfectly for me, and there's the Lobby if you want more room. Each building has a laundry room, plus there's an ironing room and a communal kitchen with utensils. The sauna was OK, with separate areas for women and men and plenty of lockers and space. A pool is under construction. I liked the gym a lot. It's bigger than other FHs, but there's a members' area you can't access without a membership. Breakfast is included, and the restaurant serves food for about 10€ from Monday to Friday. Thanks for everything!
