STF Ihre Gård

I was passing through Gotland on a biking trip and only used Kaffestuga, so this is just about the restaurant. It’s a nice place to stop for a bite if you’re hungry, with good quality food, decent prices and very friendly staff. I enjoyed my lunch with a nice glass of white wine. A few things kept it from getting four or five stars: some of the utensils and glasses weren’t washed carefully, it was too hot inside and seemed to lack proper ventilation, which attracted flies, and swimmers were allowed to come in soaking wet, leaving the floor slippery and dirty.

The food tasted like it had just come from the farm, not like supermarket produce, and that was such a treat. We stopped for lunch and it turned out to be a really nice surprise. The prices were good too, so we left happy.

The lack of anyone at the site was the biggest letdown for my family and me. Everything is handled through the central office in Visby, and that led to confusion. Because of our ferry schedule, we arrived in the middle of the night and spent about half an hour wandering around trying to find our cabin. There wasn't even a sign pointing to the cabins at first, though one was put up in the following days. We had reservation questions but couldn't get an answer from anyone on site, and nobody at the Visby office answered the phone either. The cabins sit beside a forest and close to the beach, so the setting is peaceful. They're small and cozy, with the amenities you'd need apart from a toilet and hot water. No need to bring pots, plates, or cutlery, since the cabins have those. But they get VERY HOT inside. If air conditioning isn't possible, a fan would help. The website says every cabin has wifi, but we couldn't connect from ours and had to go outside the toilets for a barely decent signal. We had a good stay overall, but please improve the on-site staffing and wifi.

I didn't stay overnight, but the service was really friendly. It's a rustic, authentic farm from the 18th century, close to magnificent Ireviken.
