Vastervik Resort

This is about our stay in 2025. For what we paid each night to park our caravan, I'd expect WiFi that can handle video calls and downloading things to my phone. The resort is huge and probably works well for kids, but it doesn't suit anyone trying to get work done. They still haven't managed to provide usable WiFi, clean facilities, or paths wide enough that you don't have to squeeze through everywhere.

We stayed in a tent with our family and two kids in August 2024. The climbing park was well run, and the staff there were friendly. The adventure mini golf was fun too, and there was plenty for kids to do. Toilets and showers were mostly clean despite how many people used them. The campsite is a nice spot, with a short walking path over a few Schären Islands just off the site. But it's huge and packed, and the tent and caravan pitches feel too small, with very little space between them. Nobody seems to check or follow the required distances. The restaurants are pretty expensive, and this was the priciest campsite we visited in Sweden. Next time we'll look for somewhere cosier.

If you're after a rustic camping stay, this place isn't it. It's a huge resort with loads of modern facilities, including an indoor pool, play area, climbing, plenty of bathrooms, and shared kitchens with dishwashers. You can also access the natural water in a few spots and explore nearby islands. Check-in and check-out were easy, and everything was clean.

The location is fantastic, and we pitched our tent close to the beach for three nights. The facilities were clean and modern, and we found a fridge and somewhere to charge our devices. The kids enjoyed the lively atmosphere, football, and playgrounds, but it can get pretty party-heavy. Bring earplugs. Staff could do more to enforce the nighttime quiet hours. At midnight, I had to ask a group that was partying to turn their music down.
