Hotell Ronja

The room was dated, cramped, and poorly maintained for what we paid. We were offered food vouchers for the children, but that felt like a mediocre response to the inconvenience. We chose this hotel mainly for its pool, then found it out of order. That hadn't been clearly communicated when we booked through the hotel's website. The stay didn't deliver on its promises, and I wouldn't recommend it.

It's well located for visiting Vimmerby, but check that the air conditioning and blinds are working, and be ready to make your own breakfast. Check-in was uninspiring, just room information and nothing more. We also weren't told before arriving that the pool was broken. We only found that out at check-in.

The beds are soft and the sheets comfortable, and the rooms are clean and nice. Breakfast isn't anything special, but it has what you need to get going. The railway is right behind the hotel, though trains fortunately don't come often. It's a good choice for a longer stay, since many rooms have a microwave and some have a kitchen.

The next day, I checked into a single room and found a naked man inside. He said he hadn't checked out yet, even though the room had supposedly been cleaned. This was at 3pm. I don't know how they track which rooms are occupied and which are available, but it clearly isn't working. Before that, we'd been given a very large family room that was dirty and hadn't been cleaned: bags full of food, things in the fridge, and half-empty shampoo bottles. We only got access after it was cleaned. There was plenty of floor space, but the sofa was very hard to sleep on, and a separate room had twin beds.
