The room was tiny, though it had what I needed as a keen traveler on my 16th hotel night in a row. Breakfast matched the star rating. Getting to that stay was frustrating: the hotel's website wouldn't let me book a single room unless I added various packages. When I called, they said they had no singles and offered a double for 2,500 SEK. Booking.com had a single room for 900 SEK less. At check-in, I asked why, but got no explanation beyond being told I'd found an extraordinarily low price. The whole experience felt poor value, and the administrative routines could use work beyond the hotel's claim to be Sweden's oldest, open since 1829.

The breakfast included homemade jam and lots of other specialties. The hotel is an impressive old building in a good spot, and has the look of a high-end place. Parking in its own lot was reasonably priced, about £10 overnight, and there were electric chargers.

Really good food and beds, nice rooms, and people who made us feel welcome. The service was great too. We'll be back.

I liked the relaxed, friendly service, especially at breakfast, which was a highlight. Some dishes were genuinely delicious, and the rest of the food was good. I was here for two days and one night for a conference, and found the stay really pleasant. The large building has kept its charm despite being modernized, and the bistro area is particularly beautiful. My room was spacious, nicely decorated, and had everything I needed. I'd give it 4+ stars.
