Blue Jazz Hostel

The price was affordable and the service decent, but the place wasn't particularly well maintained. At times during my stay, the toilets smelled bad along the corridor, which raised hygiene concerns. It's adequate for the price, but avoid it if you want plenty of room to move around.

It's a clean, decent hostel, but the luggage storage comes with a charge and staff start nagging about checkout well before the 11am deadline. There isn't breakfast, unlike at some other hostels. The aircon is set so low it practically freezes you at night, which also feels wasteful of energy. Those issues keep it to three stars for me.

The service was nice, and early check-in was allowed, although the bed wasn't ready until after 2PM. There was free breakfast with oatmeal, bread, jam, milk and coffee. Get up early if you want more choice and a seat. There's no locker and the room door is never locked, but I felt completely safe leaving my things there. The bathroom was the one real problem: it was a nightmare to share with so many people. Bring flip-flops and tissues for showering or using the toilet.

The receptionist was kind, but the hostel didn't quite look like the photos, so keep expectations low. It's about as basic as a budget hostel gets. I'm not sure about the breakfast, and with six other people sharing the dorm, bring earplugs because the snoring can make it hard to sleep. The bathrooms could be cleaner, and bugs on the walls made showering pretty unpleasant. I also wouldn't trust the laundry.
