The location is hard to beat, about a minute from a station and half a minute from Bugis Junction, and we booked at the last minute. The rooms and storage were good, and I couldn't fault the shared areas. Still, we'd just stayed somewhere better for £20 less per night, so the price comparison stung. It seemed the hostel was also offering long-term stays to residents. Every night, one man left at 8pm and returned around 4am, making enough noise to wake everyone. The air conditioning worked well if you had a bottom bunk. With the privacy blinds, our bunks felt like a sauna, so we had to buy a fan. Not the worst place, but not the best either.

The location is the one real plus here. I paid more than at other hostels, but the facilities felt worn down. There weren't enough toilets or showers for the size of the place, and guests are told to leave shoes at the entrance without being given bathroom slippers. There's no water dispenser, little room for luggage, no hangers in the pods, and the lockers were in poor condition. Air conditioning is only available at certain times, so the pods can get extremely hot in the afternoon with no fan or AC. At this price, the facilities and pod quality need to improve.

I booked the deluxe female single pod expecting more, but it didn't feel deluxe and wasn't worth the price. The room was cramped and stuffy, with air conditioning that couldn't cool it properly. I checked in around 8:30pm and left at 11:30pm the same night. The heat woke me three times when I needed proper sleep. I tried WhatsApp and email between 9 and 11pm for help, since climbing up and down from the upper pod was difficult, but no one assisted. I was sweating when I checked out, angry and miserable. The toilet and shower weren't separated, leaving a wet floor that made me feel sick walking in. I could get a better capsule elsewhere for the same money.

The women's room felt safe and quiet, and I slept comfortably in the pods. It took me a while to find the place, but getting around from there was easy. The atmosphere was clean and friendly, and I thought it was worth the price. A few things could be better: sometimes the Wi-Fi and air conditioning didn't reach the pods, the shower's hot water needs work, and the body soap was empty during my stay.

The free self-service drinks were a nice touch: coffee, water and teh tarik. You can also check yourself in, and the staff were friendly and spoke English. We had a comfortable, neat stay and saved a lot compared with a hotel. Our room could fit 10-12 people, so it worked well for a large group or for travelers like me who spend the day out touring and just need a bed at night. It's close to Bugis Junction for shopping and breakfast, about three minutes away, and near Bugis MRT too. Book early because they often fill up. If you don't want an upper bunk, you can mention that when booking. I recommend it for people on a budget in Singapore.
