Bright Star Hotel

A very basic place, probably best for a short budget stay on your own. The room and reception area are both quite small, and the front desk wasn’t very helpful. There’s only one charging socket in the room, which can be inconvenient. They also ask for a refundable $10 deposit for the key and provide just two complimentary glasses of water.

The room was secure and the view from the fifth floor was okay. There’s an upper patio where you can hang out and dry towels. It’s close to Geylang, but not especially close to an MRT station. The green line is about a 10 to 15 minute walk away. The bed was comfortable, and you can request room service, though you have to ask for it. There’s only one room key, so you can’t leave the AC on or charge electronics while you’re out. No USB chargers either, so bring an adaptor. My room, 508, wasn’t very quiet, with lots of noise from cleaning and from showers and toilets in other rooms.

It does the job, and it’s near the airport. The room was decent, though they don’t really do housekeeping. The hotel is in a somewhat shady part of Singapore, so the atmosphere around there isn’t the best.

Stayed in early August 25. It was affordable, decent, clean, and good value for money, with all the basics present and working. Aljuneid MRT is a 10 minute walk away. There’s a SGD10 key deposit, and checkout is at 11.00 am.
