Broadway Hotel Singapore (SG Clean Certified)

I knew it was a budget hotel, but I still didn’t expect it to be dirty. We left the room for a few hours and came back to find lots of cockroaches, including one inside our bag. The bathroom looked like it hadn’t been washed at all, though the toilet itself was clean. There was also a lot of dust. I don’t recommend it, spend a bit more for a better room or hotel.

The location is convenient, near Mustafa Centre, restaurants, and a laundry. The front desk staff were polite and helpful, and housekeeping staff worked hard and were friendly, though there wasn’t much they could do about the state of the property. The room smelled strongly as soon as we walked in. The carpets looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in years, and the rooms were small, with unfinished walls and sharp concrete edges that felt unsafe. Bathroom fixtures came off when we used them. There was no exhaust or proper ventilation, so it got stuffy, and the old bathroom curtains kept getting wet and felt unhygienic. The poor ventilation made my kids feel sick. The elevator also malfunctioned, leaving us stuck for 20-30 minutes. I came to Singapore with my family for a fun trip, but staying here wasn’t a good experience. If you’ve already spent a lot on your trip, I’d put a bit more toward accommodation, because this place doesn’t meet basic expectations. Most of these issues are already mentioned in other visitors’ reviews. The owner doesn’t seem to care or act on negative reviews from a year ago, which I expected to have been fixed by now, but no. If you think you’re saving money, I don’t think it’s worth risking your health and safety. The hotel needs a full renovation, and I’d recommend finding somewhere better. I wonder how some people give it 3/4 stars.

Jaggi’s is a good Indian Punjabi restaurant, the tastiest and cheapest in S’pore! Everything is freshly made at their main branch a few doors away. Expect to pay around $15 per head including a drink.

We’ve heard Singapore is the safest city, so how are thieves allowed to run a hotel here? While we were away, someone came into our room and took our personal belongings. They also came in without our knowledge, left blankets, and took other things. What’s the point of giving us a room key? What action should be taken? And why did they enter while we weren’t there, without our permission? There was no cleanliness, the service was poor, and the place was too congested. We thought about extending our stay by one more day, but because we didn’t feel safe, we booked a good hotel instead. Please check before booking. The morning shift people were very irresponsible. Choose a nice, good quality hotel instead. The manager/owner has a cheap mentality. They need to answer for this.
