Campbell Inn - Hostel

I tend to need a lot going on, so a quiet retreat sounded pleasant but also like it might get boring. I was wrong. There was plenty to quietly take in among the garden's colors and textures, and the fresh, inviting shared spaces made it easy to slow down without feeling restless. I came away feeling genuinely relaxed, which doesn't happen often for me. It helped me find a calmer kind of engagement instead of just getting away from the rush.

We paid a lot for a place with a broken shower door, a men's toilet that didn't work, and a toilet door that wouldn't close. There were cockroaches in the kitchen, and even with a lock the room door was always open. I wouldn't stay again. Other places nearby offer better accommodation for less. We'd stayed in Little India before and had a much better capsule hotel for a lower price. Definitely wouldn't recommend Campbell in.

The beautiful garden was peaceful, and the shared areas felt fresh. I came here wanting a special break from the usual rush, and the place delivered. It had a cared-for, relaxing feel that made it more than just somewhere to sleep.

I was really disappointed by the hygiene: the toilet smelled strongly, bathroom doors were broken, the room was dirty, and there was visible mold. Safety was just as worrying. Both the front and back doors were left open, so anyone could walk in. I booked a private room for myself and my friends, but at night a stranger unlocked our door, saying he was staying there too. There were no secure locks or locker padlocks in the room, and it seemed anyone could know the room passcode and get in. As female travelers, we felt very unsafe. Check-in staff were polite and helpful, but reception closed at night, with nobody available when issues came up. The hotel fell short on basic safety and cleanliness. I'd strongly advise others not to stay until it makes significant improvements.
