Holiday Inn Singapore Orchard City Centre by IHG

We had plenty of nearby restaurants and food options, and the MRT made trips to Gardens by the Bay, Marina Bay, and the waterfront straightforward. Those main attractions are some distance away, but the trains were clean, efficient, and affordable. We managed easily with our baby and toddler. The rooftop pool was peaceful and never too crowded, with room to sit in either sun or shade. Our family of four found the rooms spacious, clean, and handy for travelling with little kids. The hotel felt tidy and welcoming from arrival, and reception and concierge staff were accommodating throughout. Breakfast had a good buffet choice, made-to-order eggs brought to the table, and especially kind, friendly staff. We had a great stay and would come back.

The room was spacious, but it had a very dark feel and a strange mouldy, sewage-like smell that could make the place feel haunted. The staff were good and the location was very good, but renovations caused terrible noise for almost the whole day. I don't understand why they kept charging peak-season rates when they knew a comfortable stay wouldn't be possible. The front desk suggested we spend all day out while the work was going on, which was, hmm, very thoughtful.

I was in town late at night before moving to Marina Bay Sands, and this hotel worked well for that stop. Staff were attentive, and room service arrived promptly and tasted good. The rooms were nice enough that the poor views didn't matter much. It's in an upscale area among malls and bars, with girls looking for people to buy them drinks. I had a good stay and would have stayed here the whole time if I hadn't already booked marina bay sands.

We've stayed here three times now, and this will be our regular choice whenever we're in Singapore. At the end of Orchard Road, it's a handy starting point for walks at any hour, with shopping centres close by for browsing and trying snacks. All that food might add inches to your waist, but the walking should help you get your daily steps in. For an Orchard Road hotel, the room size and rates seem reasonable. The rooms are clean and well maintained, the hot shower and AC worked fine, and the bed and pillows were so comfortable we slept like babies. Front office, phone reception, room service, and F&B staff were pleasant and keen to help. Special thanks to Ms. Sarvinder and Mr. Jeff for their courteous company. Breakfast had enough variety without going overboard. The pastries were a little dry for me, and I found the seating area a bit cramped. Those are just my personal views.
