JEN Singapore Tanglin by Shangri-La

I booked through Agoda. The location is a strong point: the hotel is right by Orchard Boulevard underground station, connected by a shaded path, and there are rental bicycles at the hotel. It also connects to Tanglin mall, though there isn't much there for tourists beyond quick shopping. The hotel seems geared toward business travelers, though tourists can stay too. They lent us umbrellas during heavy rain, which was the one positive part of the service. The rest of the experience was disappointing. Staff didn't greet us, and some gave unhappy looks. Check-in was quick, but felt robotic despite being handled by a person. We got nonworking key cards twice and had to go back and forth to fix them. The concierge desks are next to reception and easy to miss, and the staff didn't proactively explain the hotel or offer help; they mostly waited for guests to approach. I was also unhappy with the security check after I left the "Do Not Disturb" sign on for a while. While I was napping, the front desk attendant and security came into my room. I understand they may have been concerned, but they could have called or knocked longer and louder instead of knocking for a couple of minutes and then entering. I had to wake up groggily to see who had opened the door. They apologized and said they closed it when they heard my friend showering. It wasn't a good experience to have hotel staff enter while nobody could answer, despite the sign being up.

As a club member, I felt recognized and well looked after throughout my stay at JEN Tanglin Singapore. The staff were warm, professional, and attentive, and the club benefits made things even better. Check-in was smooth, and the quiet, well-kept lounge was a nice place to relax or get work done. The evening refreshments were generous and presented well. The room was clean, modern, comfortable, and well soundproofed, with all the essentials. Housekeeping was attentive without getting in the way. Orchard Road and public transport are close by, and the connection to Tanglin Mall made dining and shopping convenient. It’s good value and maintains a high standard of service. I’d gladly return and recommend it, especially to other club members looking for a reliable, comfortable stay in Singapore.

Our company yacht event on 5 Feb 2026 went smoothly thanks to the catering team at Hotel Jen Tanglin. Despite the heavy rain, the food arrived on time, warm, in excellent condition, and ready to serve. The beef was perfectly prepared, and the seafood thermidor was outstanding. I have severe nasal allergies, and the staff were attentive and smiling as they tried to find a suitable room for me. They even put an air purifier in the room. The room was tidy and an adequate size, though I found the windows a bit small. It can feel humid during the rainy season. The facilities are comprehensive. The gym has a good range of machines, and although I’m not much of a swimmer, I enjoyed sitting by the pool and breathing the fresh air. Front desk, concierge, and housekeeping staff were all excellent and efficient. They also lend bicycles and offer a great free shuttle bus to Sentosa. I almost forgot, the uncle at the breakfast noodle station was especially cheerful and seemed to enjoy his work.
