We were glad we booked at a cheaper rate, since paying any more would have felt like poor value. The room had a private bathroom, which a capsule hotel might not offer, and the air conditioning was cold and the TV worked. But cleanliness was disappointing: furniture, sockets, chairs, tables, and other basic items were dusty or stained. Slippers weren't provided and had to be bought at the counter for a dollar. The hotel is in a red-light district, which may feel shady, though bus stops are about 5-10 minutes away and the location is fairly convenient. We were honestly glad it was just one night, and checked out as early as we could the next morning.

The room looked neglected, with grimy floors and plastic chair, scuffed and cracked walls, filthy skirting boards, and dirt caked on the socket and switch plate, which were taped over. There was a rusty, stained mini-fridge, brown rings on the floor tiles, marks on the toilet seat and bowl, and visible stains on the bedsheet and mattress. This went beyond ordinary wear and tear. Housekeeping and maintenance seemed almost nonexistent. For a place advertised as three stars, that condition was unacceptable. Management would need to deep clean, replace the linens, repair the electrics, repaint, and fix or remove the rusty fridge before I could recommend it. I checked out disappointed and wouldn't return.

A quiet neighborhood and a strategic location make this a good budget hotel. There's enough space in the room, it has a window, and they even provide a charger with cables. Bus stops, minimarkets, and halal restaurants are all very close. I'd definitely recommend it.

We didn't see the room properly until after midnight. We arrived around 7:30pm on August 1st for a concert at The Star Theatre (Buona Vista), checked in quickly, left our bags, and rushed out. After the concert and a quick dinner, we came back to find sticky marks on the table, by the kettle, and on the bedside drawer. The surfaces clearly hadn't been cleaned, and we were shocked the room had been given to us like that. I showed photos to a male Chinese receptionist and explained we'd only just returned. His first question was what time we checked in, which felt like he was suggesting we'd made the mess. He apologized, said housekeeping was done by the morning shift and he had started at 11pm, and promised to send someone because no other rooms were available. When the housekeeper arrived, I showed him the dirty spots. He also asked when we checked in and implied we could have caused them, saying something like, "You’ve already showered, clearly you’ve been in the room for 2-3 hours." That upset me. We had got back late and wanted to shower before reporting it, but that didn't mean the dirt was ours. When I asked if he was saying we made the room dirty, he replied, "Our hotel is clean. We don’t have cleanliness issues. Even our boss monitors our work." That crossed a line. I asked what I was looking at if the hotel was so clean, and whether he thought I'd dirtied the room just to complain at 1am. I demanded that he clean the whole room properly and change the sheets too. After he finished, I went down again to make a formal complaint and saw him chatting with the receptionist. I told them both how dissatisfied I was. I said not to assume we were there for a short 2-hour stay: we were on legitimate business and didn't have time to dirty a room and fake a complaint in the middle of the night. The dirty room was bad enough, but being indirectly accused of lying or creating the mess was insulting and unprofessional. The experience was unacceptable. I won't return and don't recommend JH Hotel Singapore.

JH Hotel is a small place in Geylang, and this review is for its Standard Room with Smart TV. Check-in was quick since I booked through an app. The room was spacious enough for belongings and fairly clean, except for some permanent marks on the walls and fridge. It’s plain, but fine if you just need somewhere to stay. The air conditioning got very cold, and there were seven charging ports around the room. The area was peaceful during my stay, and the bed was comfortable. I slept well, and the blankets weren't tucked in, so I could cover myself properly. The shower warmed up quickly, although it didn't get as hot as I wanted. The mini-fridge worked, and basic items like coffee, water, and a toothbrush were provided. There was no safe, though. I also liked the charger by the phone, with multiple types of ports. Wi-Fi was fast. The TV didn't have local channels or streaming services like Netflix or HULU, but it had other basic channels. For getting around, the nearest MRT is about a 10-15 minute walk, and there are plenty of bus stops, food stalls, and convenience stores nearby. For the price, it’s decent value and a nice budget room. I enjoyed staying here, thanks for having me.
