K Hotel 12

The hotel looked nothing like the pictures. It was old and dirty, and we had no hot water. The only reason some reviews are acceptable, I think, is that they offer guests 20 Singaporean dollars back for leaving a good review.

The receptionist was rude and unprofessional. He first insisted checkout was at 11 am instead of the usual 12 pm, and only changed his mind after speaking with his superior. Our room was old, dirty, and smelled strongly unpleasant. We found bugs in the bunk beds, and the bed was noisy, extremely dirty, and seemed not to have been cleaned properly. The advertised photos and the actual condition didn't match, and the poor service and room quality made the stay very disappointing. It felt like a scam, and I don't recommend booking here. Just disappointing.

The rooms were tiny, like labor camp rooms, and expensive. I paid S$85 for one. There was no room service or ironing room. I asked the manager if I could see the room I'd booked before checking in, but he refused, so I had to stay without seeing it first. It was worse than I expected. The manager wasn't very helpful to a foreign guest and should have been more polite and nice. I don't recommend this place. I see some people have exceptional reviews, but they offer 20S$ off for a 5 star review. I didn't take a photo of the cashback note, which was pasted on the back of the room door.

I've stayed four nights at K Hotel 12, and it was a good stay. Booking and my request for an early check-in both went smoothly. I spoke with two receptionists, one during the day and one at night, and they were both really friendly and welcoming. The Chinese lady at reception was especially nice. When I explained that my parents were very old and would struggle to leave early, they let us check out a little later since our flight was in the evening. It's a budget hotel in an expensive country, so people shouldn't expect four or five star service at that price. I'd recommend it to budget travelers.
