The Laurus, a Luxury Collection Resort, Singapore

The uncrowded feel was one of the best parts of the hotel. We had the main pool area to ourselves in the middle of the day on two occasions. The staff were polite and friendly, and the location is perfect, close to shopping, restaurants and other Sentosa attractions. A few problems stopped this from being a perfect stay. The air conditioning was temperamental and reset itself to 26 degrees at random, so I had to get up several times each night to change it because the room was too hot. Someone came to investigate twice, but they didn’t seem to think there was a problem. We also had four mistakes with our breakfast order one morning. At checkout we were told our airport car was ready, but nobody checked that our luggage was in it. We were already on the way to the airport when we confirmed with the driver that our bags weren’t in the boot, so we had to return to the hotel to collect them. These issues really spoiled what would otherwise have been an excellent experience.

I stayed at The Laurus for two nights in May 2026. It’s a very new hotel and part of The Luxury Collection in Marriott, so I was able to get stay credit and the benefits of Marriott Bonvoy membership. I booked through the AMEX Fine Hotels & Resorts program. Along with the USD100 property credits, the deal included S$200 Resorts World Sentosa gift vouchers per night, usable at several places around the resort. I ended up spending mine at QUAN, the newest hotpot restaurant, which served very good quality hotpot.

We usually stay at the W Sentosa for our Singapore staycations, which we take a few times each year, but decided to try Laurus Hotel. As a Marriott Platinum member, I got early check-in and late check-out, which was especially nice for a staycation, plus a lovely upgrade. The hotel also surprised us with a great birthday cake and a handwritten card, thank you! Service from everyone was outstanding. At Laurus Table the food was phenomenal, and my wife and I immediately agreed we’d be back for dinner many more times. Melissa, Nick, Sylvia, Micah, Grace, the hostess and greeter, and the rest of the team were professional and kept smiling throughout. Our Premier King Suite had a lovely waterside view and was very spacious. It came with a full walk-in closet, Dyson dryer, automatic curtains and a separate living and dining area. The bathtub and bath salts made for a relaxing soak, and everything felt new and high-tech. It’s a quiet place for families too, with amenities and attractions, restaurants and shops close by. We didn’t eat outside, preferring to explore all the options on the property during our staycation. We’re expecting a baby girl soon and plan to come back.

The Laurus, a Luxury Collection Resort, has a calm, almost private-oasis feeling, even though it sits inside one of Asia’s busiest integrated resorts. As soon as I stepped in, the world seemed to quiet down. The staff were unusually warm for Singapore, and their sincerity made the stay feel personal. The design has a stillness to it. Light catches the polished black and white marble floors, and a stained glass window gives the corridor a soft glow that shifts along the hallway like a piece of living art. In the lobby, a sculptural chandelier shaped like drifting laurel leaves hangs above a soaring open space. The whole place seems designed to give you room to breathe. It feels like a little paradise of calm on Sentosa.
