The Room @Bugis

The rooms, lobby, and bathroom were clean, and there’s even a bidet. HTUT was helpful and had a great personality, so don’t hesitate to ask him for help. I stayed four nights at this capsule hotel and found it the best, cheapest option at a price that felt worth it. The location is handy, with public transport, local food, shops and major attractions nearby, and the low price clearly draws travelers from all over who are constantly checking in and out. The cabins aren't soundproof either, so talking or snoring next door carries through. My bigger concern was the possibility of bed bugs. After my stay I had more than 10 itchy bumps with a black spot on each, on my neck, hands, legs and belly. That clearly looked like bites to me. I can understand that problems may be hard to avoid in a very affordable dorm used by so many people, but that doesn't make the experience easy. People react differently to bed bug bites depending on their immunity. Some may show no symptoms, while others can get a full rash or mosquito-like bumps with a burning feeling. If you tend to react that way, you might want to think twice before booking here.

The bed was high and long, and at 63 I found it hard to climb in and out. I wish there were a lower bunk for older guests. The tablet check-in was easy to follow, and there was an iron to use. There's no breakfast service, but hot and cold water are available, along with cups and free 3-in-1 instant coffee. Shampoo and soap are supplied in plenty, and toothbrushes are free too. Bugis MRT is close, although getting there means going through a shopping mall, which can be a little tricky.

Htut was the highlight for me. So friendly and sweet, and ready to help with anything. I stayed more than two weeks and would happily come back on a future trip to SG. tqtq!! :) I was nervous since it was my first capsule hotel, especially in a shared gender room, but the place felt safe. The facility and bedding were clean, guests respected each other and the unspoken rules, and staff cleaned daily and kept the common area in good shape. The AC was super cool and the shower super hot. Bugis MRT is right there, less than a minute away, and there are convenience stores and restaurants nearby. I walked to lots of downtown spots too, including merlion park, raffles city and haji lane, mostly around 20 minutes away.
