MC Hostel Brezice

You can get a private room for as little as 14€ if you’re lucky, and the value is among the best in Europe’s hostel scene. Nature lovers get a lovely setting at the top of the park hill, in a green town ringed by wooded hills. The Sava and Krka rivers separate it from those hills and meet beneath one of the two bridges, about a 10-15 minute walk away. From the upper terrace you can see the castle. It feels like a Disney cartoon, except the Youth Center bar is in another part of the building, with lively days that can turn into wild nights with live music and DJs.

I’m retired and travel full time, and this is the best hostel I’ve stayed in for years. It was so clean I walked around barefoot, and breakfast was enough to get the day started. The whole staff worked hard, from the handyman and housekeeping crew to reception. There’s gym access and a great beer bar in town, though Reset Brewery is the one you really have to visit. I meant to stay one or two days, ended up staying four, and plan to return. Brezice is a lively little town.

A modern hostel at a good price, set in a lovely city park. There’s a gym and a nice bar on the first floor.

The staff really are excellent, six stars to them. The hostel has everything you need at a great price, and I’ll definitely stay here again.
