A handy place to stop when you're driving between Italy and Croatia. It's just across the border from Italy.

We’d pulled in to charge our Tesla on the drive from Trieste, Italy, but waited nearly 20 minutes to be seated. Staff kept passing us without acknowledging us or asking us to wait. Eventually a server or manager came over and snapped, “What do you want!!!” before pointing us toward a seat. This wasn’t a place where guests were meant to seat themselves. My wife didn’t like the atmosphere, so even after sitting there another 10 minutes, we decided to leave. We bought sandwich ingredients at a grocery store instead. People there were much nicer, as were the staff at a nearby cafe, though they didn’t have food at the time. For context, I’m Black, my wife is white, and our daughter is mixed. I can’t say whether race had anything to do with it, but the staff were clearly rude and gave us very aggressive looks.

The beds were comfortable and the place was clean, with parking right in front and good value for money. The pillows, though, were a disaster. The location was very good for visiting the cave, about a 10-minute drive away. At dinner, the waitress said she was bringing us two slices of cheese and some bread before the meal, but didn’t mention a charge. We only found out at the bill that it was €2.50 per person. I’d have gladly given that as a tip, but adding it without telling us felt unprofessional. Watch out for charges like this.

The rooms were tiny and not clean at all, and there was a bad smell in the corridor. The woman at reception was rude and impolite. You can stay here if you have no other option, but otherwise I’d avoid it.
