I liked the location a lot: it’s in a calm, fairly green area, and you can easily reach any interesting place from there. The staff are nice, and the rooms and showers are relatively clean, though very simple and functional. Check-in took a long time, with people waiting 30 minutes. The building has four floors and no elevator. It’s a reasonable place for a stay of several nights.

We’ll DEFINITELY stay at Hostel DIC again! It’s pronounced “Deetz.” I usually don’t like the idea of staying in a hostel because I picture poorly maintained common spaces and questionable cleanliness. Here, everything was white and very clean, the shared bathrooms and kitchen were well maintained, and the rooms were private and lockable. The buffet breakfast was great, too. Hostel DIC deserves five stars as a hostel. If you’re after a five-star hotel, look elsewhere, but be ready to pay 2-3 times as much.

My fan stopped working on day five, and I spent the next five days asking reception for a replacement. They kept saying none were available. Then one evening I saw guests carrying fans upstairs and spotted two more sitting unused. When I asked again, I was told every fan was supposedly in use and they couldn't lend one out. They offered to refund me instead. After I kept insisting, they finally gave me a fan, then said I'd been staying too long when they realized how long my stay was.

The mattress was the worst part. It was old enough that I could feel the springs through it, and there was menstrual blood on it :(

This hostel is set inside an art gallery, in a nicely refurbished building that looks like it may once have been a school. The place is spotless and well cared for, the mattresses are comfortable, and the staff are friendly. Breakfast was charged at 5€ even though it was advertised as 4€. And although it was among the city's cheaper options, I still found the price high for a hostel.
