Bed and Breakfast Pri Belokranjcu

We had to clear the snow ourselves, and there was no discount for the services that weren't provided. ACSI wasn't accepted either. Because of the temperatures, there was no fresh water, just electricity. The parking spots are in the backyard. We tried it once, and won't be back.

The owner has plenty of experience and a long tradition behind him. This is a welcoming, pleasant family-run place right in the courtyard of Metlika. Highly recommended.

I called the number listed for Cesta bratstva in enotnosti 77, Metlika, (07)302 84 44, to ask about a room. They said there was one available and told me to come. But when I got to Metlika, I was told there were no rooms there, and that the number had reached the main reception in Novo Mesto. I called back, and the same receptionist, who'd just confirmed a room, explained that he thought I was coming to Novo Mesto. I had no idea there were two locations. A competent receptionist would've said so and asked which one I meant. Instead, he misled me through his incompetence. Then he suggested I go to Novo Mesto and drive back every day, brushing it off as just 15 minutes.

The rooms are basic, clean, and okay, but they get extremely noisy when they face the main road or the side. Our window looked onto the bar, where things were loaded or unloaded every night, so bring earplugs or keep the window shut. Breakfast was pretty uninspired, with Nescafé, hot chocolate or tea, cold rock-hard eggs, a few spreads, cheese and sausage slices, and plain white bread in a basement with no windows. The café next door has coffee or tea and fresh croissants, which I'd recommend.
