Gostisce Draga

The setting at Gostišče Draga was lovely and the service was pleasant, but the food ended up being the weak point. The plates looked promising, yet the flavors were disappointing. There were seven of us, so we got to try a range of dishes. Some were very good, though the quality was uneven for the prices. The wild boar with plum sauce was especially disappointing: the sauce tasted bitter and overcooked, and the meat was only mediocre. A place like this should deliver a consistent standard without excuses. The atmosphere was charming, but the food let us down enough that we sadly wouldn’t return.

We took our time over dinner, and the waiter quietly checked what pace we wanted, then adjusted things to suit us. Our three courses stretched over two hours, which worked well for our date. The main challenge was my date’s strict carnivore diet: no starch or vegetables, and even cheese and nuts were out. The staff at Draga were happy to make several changes to the dishes, and everything arrived as requested. The food was tasty, made with quality ingredients, nicely presented, and the portions were enough that we left full. It was a scorching day during a heat wave, but the valley by the creek where Draga sits was noticeably cooler than the city. We had a very pleasant evening, with good food, thoughtful service, and a nice setting. We went for dinner for two and have plenty of praise for how they handled all our restrictions. Highly recommended.

A picturesque spot tucked between the mountains, with a really pleasant atmosphere. The service was impeccable, and there was a nice variety of food, from game and trout to shrimp risotto, frog legs, and buckwheat dumplings. Desserts were good too.

A relaxing place to eat traditional food, tucked away from the usual route. Our whole group enjoyed the meals, and the wine was great too. Don’t miss it if you’re after somewhere peaceful.
