Hotel Lavender - Oleander Resort

The reception staff were helpful and friendly. We hired bikes, but they need servicing and new brakes. Just be aware the Lavender hotel has no services of its own: reception, breakfast and the bar are next door at the sister hotel.

Our car broke down on the freeway to Slovenia, so we couldn't reach our destination. I told Lavander hotel about the problem through Booking, but they said they couldn't refund any money because of the high cancellation costs. I didn't like that lack of understanding, and I won't consider this hotel for future stays.

The staff were kind, and breakfast was surprisingly tasty with plenty of choice. Still, I was disappointed with the hotel. The rooms feel bare and cold, with a “modern socialistic” style, and their high ceilings make your voice echo. The shower cabin doesn't seal, so the whole bathroom gets wet. We were there on a rainy weekend, and there wasn't any covered outdoor space, even by the entrance. If you smoke, you have to stand under your umbrella.

Staff were friendly and helpful. If we needed anything, we just had to ask and they sorted it out. Our room was clean and very nice, with AC, shutters and a franch balcony. Breakfast was delicious. The beach is 200m away, and there's a lovely dog beach as well. For a walk, Piran is about 50 minutes on foot, which saves paying for parking. Strunjan cross, moon bay and Strunjan cliffs are around 30-40 minutes' walk from the hotel.
