Pod Roglo

We only ate at the restaurant, we didn’t stay at the hotel. It’s huge, with three birthday parties going on at once while we were there, plus at least a dozen smaller lunch groups. Even with all that, the service was quick and efficient. The food was pretty average, but the portions were huge, so it was very good value. There are a few pasta and meat choices, soups, some non-meat dishes, mostly fish, and sweets, so there should be something for everyone.

The room was spacious and had everything our family needed, and the kids were especially fond of the hotel cat. Staff were lovely, the price felt fair for the quality, and free parking was a big plus. It was also easy to drive around Slovenia and Austria from here. We had a lovely stay at Pod Roglo and would happily recommend it.

We waited over an hour for five pizzas, and they weren’t that good. Even though nearly half the tables were empty, staff said they had too many guests and could only make pizza. We ordered flavored water expecting it on tap, but got a plastic bottle instead. The only draft drink was one kind of beer, and the only interesting non-alcoholic option was a 0.3 litre lemonade for about 3 €. After 45 minutes we tried to order another drink, but nobody came. When we left, the waitress said we couldn’t split the bill and had to pay it all together.

The hotel is about 15 minutes from the slopes, and our room was cozy. It was beautifully decorated for Christmas, and I hope we can come back soon. Staff were friendly and helpful, especially Ms Branka, and restaurant service was very fast. The food was good, too. I had a really tasty vegetarian burger, and I’m glad there are meat-free choices on the menu. They make their own beer, and the lager was quite decent.
