Hotel Lux

My boyfriend and I ordered salad for lunch today, but the vegetables looked old and didn’t seem fresh, as if they’d been made yesterday. We couldn’t keep eating and were unhappy with the food. I told a service worker, but he told me to go inside and speak to the cook myself. What does good service and food mean if you don’t try to fix a problem? Customers are paying you, after all. 🤔

This is only about the restaurant. The menu was broad, from traditional Slovakian and Mediterranean dishes to all kinds of steaks. The food was very tasty: the steaks were tender, and the medium-rare beef steak melted in my mouth. The LUX dessert pancakes were delicious too. Staff were always available, so we didn’t wait long when we wanted a beer or a glass of wine. They were serving complimentary one-litre lemonades at every table during our visit, which was lovely and refreshing in the summer heat. Prices were a bit higher than at restaurants around town, but it is a hotel.

The receptionist was very helpful and called us taxis several times. We had no problems during our stay, and breakfast was good overall, with plenty of color and variety. The hotel was clean and close to the historic centre of Banska Bystrica, and not far from either the bus terminal or train station. The view from the window or the lift was nice too. Good value for the price.

We’ll definitely come back. The room was small but really comfortable, clean, and dog-friendly. The staff were helpful, and the restaurant food was delicious. Breakfast was excellent.
