Botel Pressburg

We liked the room: it was spacious, clean, and comfortable, with a view of the Danube. Staying on a big boat for a night was a new experience for both of us, and the river felt calm and quiet. The botel isn’t right in the city center, though you can still walk along the river to get there. Worth trying for a night or two.

Watching the water birds and barges pass by on the Danube in the morning was priceless. Our room looked straight onto the river and was warm, comfortable, and surprisingly spacious. The staff were friendly and breakfast was good. The hotel is a short tram ride or a 15-minute walk from the old city center, and the room rate was reasonable.

I had a terrible stay. After a very slow check-in, the room seemed fine at first, but switching on the lights revealed lots of cockroaches running around. I’m terrified of them, so I immediately asked for another room. I spoke with the manager and then the boss, and was met with threats that I’d be kicked off the boat if I didn’t shut up. I had no choice but to stay for the time I’d paid for. That one experience ruined the trip. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

The restaurant food was fantastic, and the chef, Ladies, came over to check that we were happy with it. The botel was a wonderful surprise. Our room was large and clean, with lots of storage, a big washroom, and a comfortable bed for a boat. The only thing I missed was a coffee maker in the room.
