It served its purpose for my one night in a private double room, but I found it hard to get to sleep. The music and bass from what I assume is a club upstairs continued until almost 5am, and even earplugs didn’t help much. Trams passing right beside the building make it shake, and the paper thin walls let me hear neighbours’ conversations almost word for word, as well as corridor noise. If noise doesn’t bother you, it may suit you, but I probably wouldn’t stay again for that reason. There are some good things: the location is right by the old town, with a tram stop outside. It was clean and modern, staff were friendly, towels were provided, and coffee and, I think, tea were available all the time. The common space was comfortable. There were only 2 showers and 2 toilets for the whole place, 2 male and 2 female, which may not be enough if it’s fully booked. The duvets were ridiculously thin, almost weightless, the beds creaked but were comfortable enough, and the pillows felt like lumpy clouds. I needed two to raise my head, though luckily there were two in my double room. The place felt sterile, like the office building it used to be, with basic rooms and no art or personal touches. The windows were poorly fitted and let in a cold draught, but the heater worked well enough to keep the room warm for sleeping in January, when it was -4 outside. I should have read more reviews instead of relying on the “exceptional” rating on hotels.com and just skimming the first few.

Earplugs are provided, but the strip club next door is loud from 22:00 - 3:00 and makes it hard to sleep. Aside from that, it’s a nice place.

The host was great, and the location was excellent. My room, the shared spaces and the communal bathroom were spotless. I had a comfortable stay and would highly recommend it.

The club below the hostel was the main problem. Its loud bass and music went on until 6:00 AM, with people screaming outside, so I couldn’t sleep or relax and spent the night and early morning tense, listening to techno/rap bass. I stayed 2 nights in a dorm and 1 in a private room. During the day, the facilities were clean and comfortable. The 8 bed dorm was bearable, though still noisy at night, and far enough from the club that you couldn’t really hear or feel the bass. Open windows made it extremely loud, with drunk people literally screaming. Earplugs helped a bit, but probably won’t be enough for light sleepers. I’m a heavy sleeper once I can get to sleep. The hostel is also right by the main road and tram route, so trams rattled the whole building through the day and early night. The washer and dryer are in the hallway and can be heard too; for some reason, the staff dryer was running noisily at 3 am. Maybe it’s suitable on weekdays if the club doesn’t go as late, but be cautious about booking on weekends. Earplugs won’t block the bass or outside sounds. The street lights are bright and there are no curtains, so rooms never get very dark. Hallway lights stay on all night with no switch, and shine into rooms through the glass door panels. I had a sleep mask, but it wasn’t comfortable or ideal. The hostel should be upfront about the club noise and bass. Honestly, I wouldn’t book a room above it on weekends or when the club is open. If they do sell those rooms, the price should be so cheap that guests don’t feel taken advantage of or ripped off. Had I known the private room was directly above the club, I wouldn’t have slept in it even for free. Someone who values the location more and plans to be out until 6 am might feel differently, but then one might as well choose an official party hostel. I booked because I thought it would be quiet and relaxed, and it turned out to be the opposite. Another thing bothered me: there were very older men there who did some weird things. I can post a video to explain. We told the receptionist, but they didn’t do anything. One of the guys was doing this at 5:00 AM and woke everyone in the room.

I got what I was looking for: a reasonably priced hostel in a great location. The dorm was roomy and not crowded, the guests were quiet and respectful, and cleanliness was to a high standard. The host was friendly and helpful, and let me leave my bag for a few hours after checkout. Everything was great, and I’d happily stay again.
