Hotel Expo

The room was beautiful, the bathroom was lovely, and the fridge was really big. The TV worked too. We had a good stay and would come again, but I’d bring a fan. On the hottest summer days, this was the hottest room we’ve ever slept in. Opening the window didn’t help because the odd layout seemed to stop fresh air from coming in, so it never cooled down at night. Parking costs €6 a day in front of the hotel, but getting in and out is complicated. At the barrier, press the ticket button repeatedly if it doesn’t work the first time. The lady takes the ticket and gives you an A4 paper to put in your windshield. When leaving, scan that paper at the barrier. If it won’t open, keep trying, call the office, and wave the paper around until it works. The front desk lady doesn’t speak English well, so asking questions may be difficult.

The building has the look of a student dorm from the Soviet era, but the rooms inside have been nicely renovated. The receptionist was very kind, friendly, and helpful. It’s about a 10-minute walk to the center, and I think the hotel is great value for money. Public transport isn’t convenient, though, so for the airport or train station, Bolt is probably your best option.

There’s a 24-hour reception, the price is affordable, and the rooms are comfortable. The outside looks a little sketchy, but the city center is only a 10-minute walk away. The main problem is getting back from the city at night: the way is very dark and has no sidewalk for pedestrians.

We stayed three nights and were all happy with our choice. It’s quiet here, yet the old town is about 15 minutes away on foot, maybe 10 if you walk fast. The city’s biggest shopping center is also just 10 minutes away at a slow pace. Our room was spacious and very clean, and when the shower head had a problem, they fixed it in 30 minutes on Sunday evening. Respect for that. Breakfast was a bit disappointing, just average, neither bad nor good.
