Room service was so good that I ordered it every night, and the pierogi dessert was a must for me. I’d had it three nights in a row by the time I wrote this on night four. The taste and quality made it hard to want to go out for dinner. I picked Marrol's at random for my first trip to Bratislava and was so glad I did. It’s one of the loveliest boutique hotels I’ve stayed in. Everything is close by, and when it isn’t, Uber arrives within minutes. The room was cute, clean, comfortable, and almost home-like, with a well-equipped bathroom, plenty of linen, and L'occitane toiletries. Housekeeping, reception, and the rest of the team greeted me with a smile every day. They answered questions quickly and helped when I needed to extend my stay by a few hours because of a flight delay. Spot-on service. I was leaving the next day, very unwillingly. If you’re considering Marrols based on reviews, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

The negative reviews are true. I didn’t expect too much, but I did expect something from a hotel that’s supposedly five stars. Service was practically nonexistent. From check-in, the staff felt cold. They said we’d been upgraded from the Classic room we booked to a Premium room, number 304, then gave us the breakfast hours and little else. Even a simple question seemed to annoy them. Nobody explained the amenities, helped with our bags, offered a city map, or suggested things to do. The room was basic and not very clean. There were hair clippings on the bed and in the bathroom and shower, and the bath towel was stained. A plaque said the tap water was safe to drink, but it always looked brown. The thermostat wouldn’t go below 22 degrees Celsius, so in the middle of January we had to open the window to cool down. We faced the street, and it was noisy even with the windows shut. The bed felt like a thin mattress over a wooden plank, and the Wi-Fi was horribly slow. Breakfast was very basic. Nobody greeted us, and the tables weren’t cleaned between guests, so there were crumbs whenever we sat down. The spa costs €90 for two hours and isn’t included. I wouldn’t recommend the place or stay again. It felt comparable to a Holiday Inn Express.

The hotel is clean and tidy, and the neighborhood is quiet, safe, and pleasant to return to after a long day. It does the basics well if all you need is somewhere to sleep and shower. But five stars? Not even close. Arriving with luggage, there was no bellman and no sense of urgency. Check-in was painfully slow, and the service felt so relaxed that it was like the staff had forgotten guests were there. I wasn’t expecting silver service, just a little awareness. Breakfast was perfectly edible, but it was an average, predictable buffet, very Holiday Inn. Nothing about it felt luxurious or five-star. Five stars are a long way off. Still, if you want a clean, well-located place and don’t expect much, it’ll do. No drama, no delight.

We love this hotel. The staff are kind and helpful, the rooms and facilities are comfortable, and the lobby feels cozy and stylish. The restaurant is top level too. It’s in a great spot, close to both the old town and the river.

The staff were kind and helpful, and breakfast was lavish. We loved the room too. Staying just after New Year's became the highlight of our Bratislava trip. The hotel has old-world elegance without feeling stuffy, and its location just outside the old city is perfect. Highly recommended.
