Hotel Yasmin

The bed was much too firm for me. The rooms were great and very clean, reception was polite and friendly, and breakfast had lots of variety.

The only downside for me was the location, about a 15-minute walk from the old town if you need to go there every day. I was offered this hotel because of the Euro U21 games and a film festival in Kosice. The rooms were big and clean, the bed and mattress were comfortable and firm, and the service was pretty good with friendly staff. I’d stay there again next time.

The room was slightly above average, with a nice bed that felt hard at first but was comfortable, plus a large bathroom and a very good shower. The room got far too warm, though. Even with the heat turned off and the window open, it was too hot to sleep under a blanket, and I slept badly for several nights. Reception and cleaning staff were very friendly. I got a proper welcome and a detailed explanation of everything. They pushed the steakhouse quite hard, and I’d rather decide for myself where to eat. Breakfast was what really disappointed me. The scrambled eggs were cold and runny both days. On the first day I got the eggs, then went back for coffee and what they called juice, which was actually flavored water, and the eggs were cold by then. The next day I got my coffee and flavored water first, then went to the heated buffet, with the same result. Half the dining room was roped off, so guests were directed to the section by the smoking room. Its door was left partly open, and when guests closed it, a staff member reopened it. Smoke spread through the part of the dining room where we had to sit. With half the room unavailable, I had to wait for a table while my food got cold. Two other people were waiting too, and staff walked past smiling. I’ve never had breakfast this bad at a hotel calling itself four-star. I usually stay at the Hilton, but it was fully booked that week, so I was put here. Next time I’ll specifically ask to stay somewhere else.

As a local, I’d wanted to see this hotel for a long time, and we finally stayed for two nights. The welcome and staff were very nice, helpful, and warm. Breakfast was served hot, with a good range of food, drinks, and coffee. There were mattresses everywhere during our stay, and the pillows were extremely small, unlike the nice big ones shown in the room photos, but that wasn’t a major issue.
