Pensión Slanický Dvor

The grounds are beautifully landscaped, and the cottages have a lovely design. We enjoyed the restaurant's selection and the quality of the food, but it was disappointing that the pools closed early and the outdoor bar stayed shut on a Friday summer evening. The mattresses had sunken spots, so it would be worth asking for a replacement. Still, it’s a beautiful place to stay.

The staff were so friendly and helpful that we felt at home. We had half board: dinner came from a menu with several choices, including chicken, pork, vegetarian dishes, and pasta, and the portions were huge. Breakfast was nearly the same each day, but that didn't bother us. We picked the hotel for its small houses with two bedrooms. Ours was roomy, with two bathrooms, a kitchen, and a living room, giving the children and parents space of their own. The location is great, with amazing views and close access to Orava castle, Orava forest railway, and Kinderland in Namestovo city. The one drawback was that there wasn't much to do in the evenings during winter. We stayed in January as a family with two children, aged 3 and 5.

The food was fine, but the fish portion was a problem. The menu said it should be around 200 grams, yet they brought us almost 500 grams without telling us, and the bill came to nearly 40 euro. It was tasty, but I don't think that's fair, and I wouldn't choose this kind of place again.

We had a great family stay in the two-bedroom cottage and would come back. It was clean, nicely equipped, and had a TV in every room plus a complete kitchen. The sauna was a lovely way to relax, and the restaurant food was good with reasonable prices. For a few days by the lake with family or friends, this resort was just right for us.
