Boutique Hotel Massimo

The staff were so helpful. I didn't have a Slovakian phone, so they offered to send the parking SMS for me. One of the ladies even ironed my shirt, which was really kind. The interior is fantastic too. Recommended!

A cosy, honest place with reasonable prices and an adequate menu, surrounded by some of Europe's finest countryside and people. The room had a very cool boutique feel, with amazing attention to detail. If you love life, you'll love Slovakia. Happy chappy cookie, anyone?

I can't believe this place is rated four stars. The hotel has no parking of its own, so you have to park 300 meters away in the hospital lot. There is no conference room, gym, elevator, or 24-hour front desk. Every guest room is on the second floor, reached by narrow stairs. The toilet is broken and needs several presses, otherwise the water keeps running. Breakfast isn't a buffet, you have to choose a set meal in advance. Since it's on a sloped main street, buses and trucks often go by at full throttle, making the rooms very noisy.

The whole night was sleepless. Cars on the road right by the room were so loud I couldn't sleep. Next to the hotel, there's a pigeon farm with a stink you can't stand when the windows are open. There's no air conditioning, so in summer you're left suffocating or sitting in that smell. There are chickens too, and the rooster starts crowing at 3:30 in the morning, every 10 minutes until around 8 or 9. Be careful, this definitely isn't a four-star hotel. Maybe Slovaks use a scale with ten stars maximum, and this place would be four stars on that scale.
