The house is in a great spot for train and bus connections, and it has what you need with most things working. But the room was dirty: there was blood and hair in our bed, and the owner's dog is allowed throughout the shared areas. You can hear a lot through the poorly insulated house. The owner seemed focused on getting paid, and was friendlier after we paid. Cash is required, so be prepared. He seemed to speak only Slovak and German, not English. The hot water took a lot of running and waiting before the shower got warm.

The landlady was pleasant during our stay, and both the kitchen and dining room were clean. There were two fridges to use. Our room was quite small, though, and the door did little to block noise from the hallway, where we could hear almost everything. A rubber seal around the whole door frame would help. The beds were painfully short: at 174 cm, I still kept knocking my feet against the wooden frame all night. The TV was set to Hungarian, but we used a translator to figure out how to switch it back to Slovak.

The owner was pleasant, and hot water came straight away. There's parking by the house, and the shared kitchen has enough equipment. It worked well as a base for mountain hikes. The beds and front door do creak a little.

From the outside, the villa looked perfect. Once we were settled in, we found a cramped room, a very hard mattress that creaked with every move, and lighting so poor it felt like a pigsty. The kitchen had only the dishes the house had provided. Hot water took three minutes to start. The owner seemed mainly interested in collecting cash, without giving proof of payment, and didn't seem to care much about anything else.
