APLEND Vila Olivia

The duplex was clean and comfortable, and the breakfast each morning had plenty of tasty variety. For a 3-star place, we thought it was perfect. A couple of things to keep in mind: the curtains are thin, and there’s no way to darken the skylight, which may bother light sleepers in summer. The kitchen is basic and there’s very little seating, so it works for simple needs but isn’t set up for comfortable meals. You can walk to any part of Novy/Stary Smokovec, and the local train station and funicular are less than 10 minutes away.

The apartment was very clean and nice, and it’s only a five-minute walk from the city centre. If you’re looking for a quiet hotel, though, be aware that you can hear the upstairs neighbours quite loudly, and there are lots of children around who can be noisy. Breakfast was simple, but had all the basics. I’d still recommend it.

The APLEND staff arranged champagne and a cake for my partner’s birthday at the agreed time, for a reasonable extra charge. The accommodation was lovely, practical and thoughtfully set up. Breakfast was varied and delicious. Thanks for everything!

We loved this place, and Jan deserves a special thanks. The staff were friendly and handled all our special requests. We had some delicious dishes at the restaurant, and felt they were well worth the price. The rooms were clean and nice, the hills were in view, and there’s an outdoor kids’ corner, so it works well with babies and children. It’s a great base for hiking, and the Wi-Fi was fast and stable. It could use a proper Wi-Fi setup so the room and restaurant share the same network.
