We rented the whole house directly from the owners for two couples and a family with four kids. For the price, it was a great find. The owner was helpful and easy to communicate with, and we got the cash security deposit back at the end without any trouble. The two-story house has a basement. Downstairs there’s one apartment with a fully equipped kitchen, dining area and two toilets. Upstairs is the second apartment, with its own bathroom and two rooms. Each room opens off a hallway, where there’s also a bathroom with a toilet. The kitchen has a big fridge and freezer, and each room or apartment has a small fridge. The place is decorated with old skiing and winter hiking gear, along with sports certificates from the CSSR. There’s also a sizeable library in several languages about the Tatras, the National Park and other subjects. I’d guess it was built around the 1970s and renovated a few years ago. The bathrooms in particular have been done up very nicely. The mattresses were a bit thin, so the beds weren’t the most comfortable I’ve slept in, but they were fine after a day outdoors. The staircase could be tricky for little kids, and they might misuse some of the decorations. I wouldn’t recommend it for children under 4-5, but otherwise it’s a great place. Keep the price paid in mind when setting expectations.
