The spotless rooms and quick, courteous service stood out, especially how smoothly breakfast was handled. This small-town hotel has its own character, from the lovely wood-decorated entrance to the covered atrium and views over the main square. Restaurants and a gelato shop are close by, and there’s gated parking behind the building. I enjoyed my stay and plan to come back.

The service was good, though not amazing, and I liked the room’s historic character. Still, it needs more attention to detail to feel special or work well for modern guests. The original window looks nice but doesn’t tilt or block outdoor noise, and the room was loud enough to make sleeping difficult. The bedside bulbs were extremely glaring, the new mattresses felt too stiff and left us with aching backs, and there weren’t many outlets. Plug-in outlet multipliers would help. The shower curtain was too long to tuck into the tub, but leaving it outside caused water to spill everywhere. The sink faucet seemed made for a large utility sink and splashed water around when I washed my face. I liked having a separate toilet room, but then you have to touch the door handles and light switches before reaching the sink to wash your hands. The city water was brown from minerals, though the city is working on the problem. The room safe didn’t work.

The staff were polite and helpful, and I enjoyed choosing breakfast from the menu. The hotel is in a very good location, and I’d stay there again if I’m in the area.
