Hotel Samaria

The manager, Tatiana, treated our requests disrespectfully, and the service was poor. She agreed to change our towels only once every three days and asked us to keep them clean. There was no room service. Our stay left us with a very unpleasant feeling. If you need more information, feel free to email me.

The room was modern, large, and comfortable, but the sheets had several holes, there was no elevator for luggage to the second floor, and a room costing over €100 didn’t even come with drinking water, a kettle, or tea cups. Breakfast was the biggest disappointment. The receptionist said the restaurant had a new owner but that we could still eat there. There was no menu or buffet, just coffee and scrambled eggs with a piece of bread as the only option. We were then unexpectedly charged €18 for two people. I don’t eat eggs because I’m vegan, so after waiting 20-25 minutes to be served, I was offered cereal with milk and a croissant. If we’d known breakfast wasn’t included in the price, we could have gone elsewhere for a better and cheaper meal. Cornus Caffe in Kvetoslavov is nearby and has a good breakfast menu, including a vegan option for €7,50.

The location is nice, the room is spacious, and the parking is right in front of the hotel, so parking the car is easy. There are still plenty of things that need fixing. The bathroom amenities are missing or come only as tiny samples that you need scissors to open, so bring your own shampoo and shower supplies or buy them at the nearby supermarket. The pipes also don’t work properly: whenever I flush the toilet, water spills onto the floor, making it slippery and unhealthy. I asked three times from early morning for extra toilet paper, then finally had to go down to reception at night to get a roll. I thought it would cost nothing to keep a spare in the bathroom.

There are two issues that made my stay disappointing. When people arrive after working hours, some basic help is needed. The receptionist remotely opened the door, which was fine, and the room key was at reception. But people arriving at night might expect to find bottled water in their room. There was none, and the restaurant was closed with no dispenser or minibar available. Also, breakfast wasn’t included, and you have to pay an outside company for food and drinks. I didn’t know that.
