Hotel Marathon

The rooms are spacious, and there’s private parking, though without help from the staff you might not find it. The staff themselves were excellent, friendly and helpful just because they’re great, not for tips. The restaurant is good too, but maybe not for vegetarians ;) They have local wines at reasonable prices. Highly recommended.

The standard and luxury rooms seemed to have more or less the same good conditions, with size being the main difference. The staff were very friendly, and the food was very good. There’s a restaurant on the lower level with an outdoor smoking area, open until late. I’ll be happy to return.

What stood out most during our week at the Marathon Hotel was how friendly and attentive the management and staff were. The food impressed us too: we had several different evening dishes, all freshly made to order, and they exceeded our expectations. Breakfast was also superbly prepared and presented. You can choose the time, and they make it to order, with cold meats, cheeses, tomatoes, fresh fruit, coffee, tea and fruit juice, as well as cooked options such as scrambled eggs, fried eggs, or ham and eggs. The ground floor is a restaurant with outdoor seating for warm weather. Our modern room had a high ‘boutique hotel’ standard of finish and was kept spotlessly clean all week. We had access to a shared roof terrace. Bottled water was left every day, and the maid gave us extra the day before a national holiday, knowing the shops would be closed. We let the hotel know we’d arrive late, and the manager phoned before we got there to make sure we could find it. Parking is behind the hotel. The street is one-way, but once you know that, the clearly signed gates on the left are easy to spot. There’s an intercom at the electric gates, and after check-in your key lets you in at any time. The hotel is in the middle of Senec, in the pedestrian shopping area, and within walking distance of the lake. Bratislava airport is only 20 minutes away, and the center of Bratislava is about a 40 minute drive. We’d rank this among the best hotels we’ve stayed in.

The rooms are very comfortable, and the food is excellent. You can get parking for a small fee, and the location is very good, close to the town center.
