Hotel Senec ****

I was disappointed by Hotel Senec’s corporate sales team. I wouldn’t recommend organizing company events here. My husband and I wanted to arrange and personally manage a fully funded respite stay for parents of children with disabilities. Private individuals, including us, were covering the whole cost so these families could get a break. The hotel’s sales department immediately treated it as a “corporate events” booking and showed little understanding of the purpose or values behind it. The representative assigned to us seemed inexperienced and was consistently unhelpful. She said things like “I don’t know,” “this service is expensive,” “I have no experience with children,” and “CSR projects are not of interest to us.” Those comments felt unprofessional and completely out of touch with the group we were trying to support. Communication was frustrating, with rigid policies and no flexibility. We were told all of our group, around 50 people, had to eat at the hotel to proceed, at a fixed buffet rate of 27 EUR per person. They would make no exception for guests who could have eaten offsite. The repeated response was “we don’t know” or “we can’t,” instead of trying to find a solution. That gave us the impression that Hotel Senec puts profit ahead of purpose and cares more about maximizing revenue from corporate clients than social impact. It didn’t feel like meaningful, inclusive hospitality. I wouldn’t recommend the hotel to an organization or individual planning an event centered on inclusion or social purpose. In my view, it isn’t equipped in either mindset or service to work with socially conscious initiatives or communities with special needs. EDIT 29 April 2025: This is my reply to the hotel’s response to my first review. I want to address several inaccuracies. The hotel said our communications hadn’t mentioned that this was a sponsored, socially beneficial project. That’s a lie. I wrote it in my first inquiry email, which was forwarded directly to Ms. Dancikova. It’s there in black and white. I also emphasized several times on the phone that my husband and I were sponsoring and paying for the stay. That’s another lie. The hotel also said the representative’s remarks certainly weren’t made out of disinterest, quite the opposite. That’s another lie, because we made sure to use her exact words from the phone call. She said, “the fact that it is socially beneficial is not our interest.” My colleague and I were outraged and couldn’t believe we’d heard a sales representative say that. We respect company policies, and as our written emails show, we accepted the offer and room rates without negotiating. But we consider it absurd to require every member of the group to have lunch and dinner at the hotel, and future clients should know about this rule if it is indeed policy. If it isn’t, then that was another lie we were told. I could also explain what happened during our in-person tour, when extra rates and fees for renting the hotel garden were suddenly added, even though they hadn’t been mentioned during the tour. The hotel failed to do proper due diligence on us as clients. No sweet or empty words in the previous reply can cover that up.
