Penzion Doas

The food was okay, but don’t expect eggs or sausages. The guesthouse itself looks fine outside and the surroundings are pleasant, but the stay was disappointing. At €70 a night for a couple, I really regretted spending the money. Senec is beautiful, but this place spoiled it for us. There are shaded parking spaces, though they charge €5 per day, and the owner quickly sent her husband in their Q7 to take up all three spaces after throwing us out. The common room couch smelled of urine, the rooms had a disgusting odor, and the bathroom was filthy, with mold in the shower. The bed sheet felt prickly, the duvet was like one you’d use in the Tatras, and the Wi-Fi was unusable. The tiny TV looked like it was from the 1990s and was no use. The bathroom was way below standard. Changing rooms wouldn’t help, so look for somewhere else.

The way the staff treated us was appalling, and we’re extremely disappointed. We won’t be back. Breakfast was the same every day, with no change in the food, and parking in front of the “guesthouse” costs extra. During our 10 days at Doas Senec Pension, our towels and sheets were never changed, the trash was never taken out, and nobody came to clean, vacuum, or wipe the toilet seat. We arrived to just one roll of toilet paper and had to buy more ourselves. There was no working TV, fridge, or kettle. We asked for the air-conditioning remote throughout the stay and still didn’t get it by day ten. Ants on the floor were a daily thing. When our four-year-old son vomited, I told reception, and they brought clean sheets for us to change ourselves. They asked if we needed clean towels too, though it would have been possible to replace them after a week. We apologized to the owner and staff, who said there was nothing to apologize for and that it was normal. A few days later, the manager demanded €25 for the towel, saying it had to go to the dry cleaner, something we hadn’t been told. She showed no proof that it had gone to the cleaners, just took the money from us directly and said nothing more. Doas Senec Pension felt like a former workers’ hostel.

We really enjoyed our stay and would happily come back. The room was clean and nicely fitted out in a modern style. We didn’t try the restaurant, so I can’t comment on it.

The rooms were clean, and there’s a friendly feel to the place. It’s right by the lake, and the staff were helpful.
