Hotel Toliar

We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend the hotel. The room was super spacious, clean, and comfortable, and the buffet breakfast and dinner were both great, with plenty of choices. Restaurant staff were always friendly and caring, and the receptionist was lovely, kind, and helpful. The location is perfect, right by the train station, supermarket, restaurants, and lake Štrbské Pleso. The one thing we didn't like was the wellness area, as the spa bath was cold.

We brought a group of 27 people, and everyone was pleased. The hotel was clean, the staff polite and helpful, and it's very close to the station and other amenities, with a supermarket downstairs. Rooms were spacious and had balconies, and some also had a kitchen annex. The best bonus was the affordable spa with massages. We recommend it.

Hotel Toliar felt like a little pearl in the High Tatras, and we'd happily return to Strbskie Pleso. It's great for families, with quiet, perfectly clean rooms and very friendly, helpful staff. We got two key cards on arrival, which was useful, and whenever an issue came up, reception dealt with it well. The Slovak food was gorgeous, and the quality for the price was a great balance. A supermarket on the ground floor is a real plus, with a variety of products at reasonable prices. You can get to the ski lifts by the hotel's skibus or by car, and the slopes were never overcrowded. The one downside was that my room was too hot at night, so I had to ask reception to turn the temperature down. Stary Smokovec is twenty minutes away by train, where you can visit Tatra Temple of Ice, an unforgettable experience. Both kids and adults will love it.

The service was horrible, with waiters rolling their eyes all the time. As someone who eats gluten free, I had very few options. When I finally got special gluten-free bread, it was moldy. Disgusting and unacceptable. I ate a slice without noticing the mold and got really sick afterward. If you're considering staying here, think about how many times this could have happened without anyone noticing.
