Hotel pod hradom

The hotel has an old-fashioned feel and sits between the main square and the fortress. My room was very large, with the toilet and bathroom separate, plus a lovely bathtub for two.

The service really made the stay for me. I arrived on 24 December, right in the middle of Slovak Christmas, and Daniel was kind and made me feel welcome. Big thanks to him for that. The rooms are a little dated, but they’re clean and spacious. It worked well for a few days, whether travelling as a family, a couple, or on my own. The location was fantastic too, with an amazing view to wake up to.

Parking in the courtyard cost €10 a day, which felt reasonable and saved us the hassle of searching around town. We’d definitely stay here again when we’re in Trenčín. Thanks for a lovely visit. We chose the hotel mostly for its location and were happy with that choice. The reception staff were so polite and friendly. I needed to work the next morning, so I asked if I could sit in a quiet corner. They offered me an unused office instead, which I really appreciated. The rooms were clean and worked well for us. Breakfast was at the nearby restaurant, which has a lovely setting and great views. The restaurant staff, though, were unpleasant. They barely returned our good morning, then after seating us in the large room, a waiter told us we couldn’t sit there and made us move with all our plates to another room. If he’d been there to greet us when we arrived, that awkward moment could’ve been avoided. Fatima could use some improvement in customer service. That’s separate from the hotel, though, so I’m still giving it five stars.

The strong air freshener smell through much of the hotel was the main drawback, and the bathroom didn’t smell very good either. If you’re sensitive to smells, I wouldn’t recommend it. Otherwise, the staff are nice, the location is great, and the price is pretty good with breakfast included.
