The location was absolutely perfect, and the included breakfast tasted great. Having air conditioning in the room was a blessing. Check-in was a bit of a struggle because the staff didn’t speak English well, and the staircase up to our second-floor room smelled of cigarettes. The room itself was decent for the price. If you’re visiting Zilina and want to keep costs down, this is a good option. Also, Rosenfelduv Palace is amazing, and you can find maps there to help track down hidden gems around the city.

The room was relatively clean, but the only window was in the ceiling and its opening mechanism didn’t work. The location is right in the centre and handy for walking, although you can see the whole centre in 15 minutes of slow walking with photos at every step. Getting to the hotel by car was terrible, and leaving was just as bad. Parking was another nightmare: it’s a block away, and although the sign listed spaces, out of 10 spots we found only one marked for this hotel. We could put up with it for one night, but no more. There was no hairdryer in the room, which matters for ladies.

We picked this guesthouse for a two-night business trip because it was close to our corporate client, and it sits right on Marian Square. The main problem was the smoke from the gaming room/pub in the building. It rises into the guesthouse, leaving the staircase, hallway, room, and even the towels smelling. I’m a smoker myself, and it still bothered me. Breakfast, served in the basement restaurant, was great, with nice service. That restaurant was the only pleasant area in the whole guesthouse. Thanks for the stay, but please do something about the smell.

The building is older, and a terrible cigarette smell hit me as soon as I went inside. I was only there for a training session in the training room, so I can’t comment on the guest rooms. The overall impression was of a two-star guesthouse, and I definitely wouldn’t stay there.
