Bintumani Hotel

Bintumani Hotel could reclaim its place as a premier Freetown destination with more investment in service and facility upgrades. Guest feedback is mixed: some value its location and potential, while others mention upkeep, inconsistent service, value for money, cleanliness, and room maintenance as concerns. Still, it can work well for conferences, large groups, or anyone wanting space with a bit of nostalgia. It’s a recognizable landmark atop Aberdeen Hill, with a long history, extensive grounds, and panoramic Atlantic views. There’s ample parking and a broad set of amenities, including a fitness center, pool, tennis courts, and several dining options. Business travelers also have a business center and conference facilities. Rooms include air conditioning, minibars, and safes, and some look out to the sea. Free Wi-Fi and complimentary toiletries are also provided.

The location was a real plus, with restaurants, bars, and shops within walking distance, along with some of the city’s museums, parks, and historic sites. I also used the fitness center and on-site restaurant. The gym had excellent equipment, and the restaurant served delicious food and drinks. My room was clean, roomy, and well equipped, and the bed was especially comfortable, with soft linens and plenty of pillows. The staff were helpful and friendly from the moment I arrived, making me feel at home. I was thoroughly impressed with my weekend at Bintumani Hotel and would recommend it for a comfortable, convenient stay.

I spent 7 nights here. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, with nice bathroom facilities. Room service was good and punctual, and generators were available on demand if the electric grid went down. Still, I didn’t feel the high price was justified, especially given the area’s extreme income disparity. The food wasn’t great from a Western perspective. It often seemed greasy and lacking flavor, and breakfast felt like what you’d get at an average 3-star hotel. The coffee wasn’t very good either, though it did give me a small caffeine boost.
