The sheets had black marks all over them that looked like mildew, and the room didn't have fresh coffee supplies left by the previous guests. Bathroom toiletries were minimal too, just one little bottle of shampoo and soap. The room was advertised with air conditioning, but the unit didn't cool anything. When I asked about the 85F heat, I was told it was old and that I should open the windows at night. We left the unscreened windows open, but it stayed hot until after midnight. A bright balcony safety light shone onto the beds until midnight, while mosquitoes and other bugs came in through the open windows. The accommodation and food quality were lacking. We should've just spent an hour in the area and left.

We found the room spacious and the place clean, with a good breakfast. The castle, shops and some great restaurants are nearby. Parking number 6 is the closest to the hotel, about a five-minute walk with your suitcase.

We loved being right in San Marino's historic center, with mountain views and medieval streets just outside. Our room was comfortable, beautifully decorated and spotless, and the staff offered helpful tips that made our visit special. Breakfast came with fresh pastries and excellent coffee. Hotel La Grotta was better than we expected, and I'd happily stay again.

The town was so quiet at night, and we loved the view from our room. Everything was clean, including our room, which had been tidied while we were at breakfast. You can see how much care the couple who runs the hotel puts into the little details. I'd absolutely recommend it.

We only had one night here and wished we could've stayed longer. It's a charming little hotel in a fantastic location, with beautiful views all around this lovely city and country. Breakfast was hot and fresh, and reception was so helpful. Our room was very clean, comfortable for three adults and had everything we needed.
