Le Lodge Dalaal Diam

The place is beautiful and clearly has potential, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. But the basic cleanliness and service need attention. Nobody cleaned our room during our three-night stay, and some hygiene conditions were questionable. Being eco-friendly shouldn’t mean being unsanitary. Food choices were very limited, and some rooms lacked proper ventilation and privacy. Good manners don’t make up for missing essential services. The price also felt out of line with the service, leaving a gap between what we expected and what we got.

It’s tucked away near Somone lagoon in Senegal, not easy to find and in the middle of nowhere, but that makes it easy to relax. The hosts were helpful, the atmosphere was good, and the calm energy was just right for unwinding between two hectic days. The food was nice, as was the baobab juice. I would’ve stayed another night, but they were fully booked. If you’re nearby, stay at Dalaal Diam and enjoy the silence and a starry night.

The room was cosy, clean, and nicely decorated, a short walk from the main house. Celine from far and Ibou on site were kind and helpful, and arranged the activities we wanted, including transport from Dakar and to the airport. The restaurant is in the main house, with lovely spots to sit inside and out. The pool is shallow and salty, but nice for a refreshing dip. It’s a quiet, natural place at the end of the lagoon, away from noise and crowds, with baobabs, a river, and birds nearby. There are lots of activities around Somone too. Just plan ahead for transport and cash since it’s a bit out of the way. Wi-Fi is only in the main house, which was fine for us, but worth knowing if you expect to stay connected.

I spent an amazing, unforgettable weekend at the lodge dalal diam. The staff were great, the rooms clean and comfortable, and the food delicious and fresh. We got a warm, friendly welcome too. If you want some time in harmony with nature, reconnect with yourself, and just enjoy the present, this is a lovely place for it. I arrived with the weight of everyday society on my shoulders and left with a real smile and a feeling of happiness. Cheers.
